Gameplay Designer


  • worked in a relevant programmer role on a game that was released
  • a degree in computer science, mathematics or equivalent
  • 1-3 y’s job experience in the gaming industry
  • worked with Unreal Engine 4 or Unity, C/C++
  • ported a game to either PS4, XBOX One or any other console is a bonus


  • critical thinker and active team player
  • good programming skills (C/C++) and mathematical skills
  • basic experience with scripting blueprints in Unreal Engine or working with an equal game engine
  • basic understanding of current console and PC development processes
  • good understanding of object oriented programming
  • able to work iteratively and involve designers when implementing new features as well as able to create tools to speed up the development process
  • able to write well-structured, readable and highly functional code
  • able to optimize and debug code for Console and PC platforms
  • understanding of what makes a game fun and interesting to play
  • basic understanding of various roles and specialisms including AI, rendering, game engine development, user interface, tools development, animation, locomotion, navigation, combat, physics etc.
  • excellent people management and communication skills in English
  • be creative and innovative

Top of the bill:

  • developed player character mechanics in a third-person game


  • contribute to the technical specification of the game and to the overall code development process
  • manage parts of the software engineering of a game from start to finish
  • read the game design documents in order to understand the required features and game systems that must be developed in the engine
  • apply prototyping techniques to demonstrate the validity/invalidity of a gameplay idea
  • ensure the quality, effectiveness and appropriateness of all the game code is met and contribute to the testing procedures
  • analyse existing features in the engine and determine if they meet the projects intentions and establish ways to adapt these features to meet the game needs whenever necessary
  • support and assist designers and artists as as needed
  • reporting to the Lead Programmer on the implementation of tasks as specified by the lead
